About The RoleAs the RFQ Manager in the global RFQ (Request for Quotation) team, you will be part of the rapidly growing Business Unit Connectivity. You will contribute significantly to the growth of our hardware, software and services business. You will report to the Director Global RFQ. There are no direct reports associated with this position.What You Will Do
- You will work closely with our sales organization to identify and win new Connectivity business globally. Connectivity includes communications modules, V2X, Antennas, gateways and related systems and software.
- Working in cooperation with Customer Account Management sales managers, you will engage early with our Automotive OEMs (research, engineering) and represent our Business Unit with technical expertise at the customer to maximize our Connectivity business.
- You will work closely with customer engineering teams to understand requirements, influence the customers’ technical direction and build confidence in Harman’s products and product delivery capabilities.
- Coordinating technical peer meetings between Harman experts and customer peers to enable technical dialogs that could influence customer specifications and RFQs.
- You will manage the creation of proposals in response to RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs for Connectivity solutions based upon customer requirements.
- Active steering during RFI/RFQ-phase to compile feasibility studies and to complete product performance specification.
- Coordination of all requirement engineering activities and requirement analysis
- Steering of Team 1 with related sub-teams and external suppliers
- Top level planning and controlling
- Report out to customer and internal management and peer teams.
- Align technical and commercial program targets with functional departments.
- You will work closely with Product Management to feed that function with customer requirements and creative ideas in order to define and develop differentiating products.
- Leading RFx process from technical point of view for Asian and Japanese programs.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering or related degree (BS Computer Engineering, for example), MBA is a plus
- Minimum of 5 years working experience in the technology industry or automotive industry
- Experience with SW and HW development projects and processes
- Experience and good skills in working with software tools in general (DOORS, Excel, JIRA, Confluence,…)
- A broad technical background with general knowledge of cellular and network technology, standards, mobile devices, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, Infotainment systems, inter-vehicle communications (buses), advanced safety, cloud-based services, software architectures, and automotive-grade products and processes.
- Strong customer focus required.
- Able to push forward topics, decisions and escalations in heterogeneous teams.
- Technical and commercial English fluently and Business level Japanese
- Ability to motivate and to communicate.
- Ability to maintain technical expertise/competence with the ever-changing technology.
- Enthusiastic, creative and desire to constantly learn about business and technical topics.
- Ability to communicate advanced and complex concepts and ideas persuasively and concisely to all levels.
- Good presentation skills
- Willingness to travel from time to time.

- Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in an automotive tier-1 or tier-2 supplier of electronic components or automotive OEMs
- Knowledge in Infotainment/Telematics systems and experience in working inside Automotive projects
- Willingness to travel from time to time, domestic and international
- Successfully complete a background investigation/Aptitude Test as a condition of employment.
