The analyst or associate will focus on portfolio oversight and analytics in the Private Investment Portfolios platform.

The ideal candidate should have Japan background, either a Japanese national or someone who is fluent in Japanese and has Japan experience, to strengthen the coverage of the Japanese GPs on funds, co-investments and secondaries. The person will work as a part of the Asia PE team which has investment professionals in Hong Kong and Tokyo. The person will be located in Tokyo office.

*Role and Responsibilities*

• Conducting due diligence on fund investments, secondary investment and co-investment opportunities including industry and company research in Asia with primary focus on Japan
• Performing in-depth valuation analysis of private equity portfolios and private companies
• Assisting in the preparation of due diligence materials, screening and investment committee memos
• Attending meetings with private equity firms
• Interacting with different parts of the firm to gather information necessary to make investment decisions or to execute investment
• Supporting PE Asia team to update investment related information
• Other duties include supporting the firm private equity platform business development and client support (especially Japanese clients), as well as assisting creation of new private market products in Japan

*Requirements*

• Degree from a reputable university with academic excellence, education at an English environment institution is a plus
• Minimum two years of investment banking, private equity or other corporate finance experience at a professional firm on Japanese market
• Strong financial modeling and analytical skills and proficiency in computer programs such as Excel and PowerPoint
• Excellent communications and presentation skills
• Ability to multi-task with a fine-tuned attention to detail
• Team-player attitude and a desire to work on a wide range of projects
• Languages: Proficient in English and Japanese
